Bulk edit changes several tasks in one pass. It is on desktop list view and on the board. Mobile web keeps a simplified list — see Mobile web and apps.
Selecting tasks does not change them. A change applies when you pick the new value. Delete selected asks you to confirm first.
Selecting tasks
- On a row, use Select for bulk editing (the square checkbox). One selected row stays in selection mode.
- Select a second task. The floating menu appears, and any open task drawer closes.
- To select everything you can currently see, use the checkbox in the Task column header (Select all for bulk edit). It selects the visible rows, not tasks hidden by a filter, a saved view, or Rest mode.
- From the keyboard, Shift+↑ and Shift+↓ extend the selection from the focused row.
Escape, or Deselect & Close on the menu, clears the selection.
What you can change
The menu shows an icon for each action. Hover for the name.
| Action | What it sets |
|---|---|
| Due date | The same due date on every selected task, or clears the date |
| Project | The project. Hidden when the project column is hidden for this list |
| Assignee | Who the tasks are assigned to |
| Mark complete | Status completed, with a completion time |
| Status | An existing status, or a new one you create in the picker |
| Priority | Low, Medium, or High |
| Effort | None, Light, Moderate, or Heavy |
| Visibility | Private, or shared with a workspace |
| Collaborators | Under More actions. People who can see the task without being the assignee |
| Delete selected | Deletes the selected tasks after a confirmation |
Due date, Project, Assignee, and Mark complete sit on the bar. Collaborators, Status, Priority, Effort, and Visibility are under More actions.
Tags, recurrence, description, and comments are edited on each task. Open task details for those.
Applying a change
- Choose the action.
- Pick the value. Onward writes it to every selected task immediately. For a due date, choose the day, or Clear dates to remove it.
- The selection stays until you clear it, so you can apply a second change to the same set.
Delete selected asks you to confirm the count before anything is removed.
Bulk edit writes task data. A saved view never does.
Undo
Undo appears in a toast after Mark complete only. It restores the previous status and completion time for that bulk action.
Other bulk changes are not undone from that toast. Set the field again if you need a different value.
Common questions
Why doesn't the menu appear when I select one task?
The floating menu opens at two or more selected tasks. A single row still has its own Task details, Comments, and Delete task actions.
Will select all grab tasks I filtered out?
No. It selects the rows on screen. Clear filters or switch out of Rest mode if you need a wider set, then select again.
Can I bulk-edit on my phone?
The full selection menu is a desktop list and board control. On a phone, edit tasks one at a time from the list.
Does bulk complete end a recurring series?
No. Completion is still per occurrence. See Recurring tasks.
