Global search (⌘K)
Press ⌘K on macOS or Ctrl+K on Windows and Linux from anywhere in Onward. The search box opens with "Search tasks, people, projects…".
It searches three things at once:
| Section | Results shown |
|---|---|
| Tasks | Up to 8 |
| People | Up to 5 |
| Projects | Up to 5 |
If there are more task matches than fit, View all matching tasks opens the full filtered list on My Tasks.
Search reaches everything you have access to, including tasks currently held back in the backlog by a capacity cap. Capping the visible list never puts a task out of reach.
Quick links and Go to
Open search without typing and you get Quick links — jump straight to:
Tasks · Plan My Day · Projects · Your Wellness · Gratitude · Habits · Settings
Team Health appears too, if your workspace has more than one active member.
Once you start typing, the same destinations appear under Go to, so you can navigate by name rather than hunting through the sidebar. For anything more than two clicks away, ⌘K is usually faster.
The sidebar
On desktop the sidebar is the main navigation, in this order:
- My Tasks
- Plan My Day
- Calendar — shown when Calendar is enabled for your workspace
- Your Wellness
- Team Health — shown in multi-member workspaces
Below that:
- Projects — a collapsible list of your projects, plus a row for all tasks across workspaces you can see.
- Teams — shown when your workspace has more than one active member.
At the bottom you'll find Invite team (or Your own workspace if you're solo), and, where enabled, an appearance control for switching between Light, Hybrid, and Dark.
Settings is not a sidebar item. Reach it via ⌘K, the More sheet on mobile, or your avatar.
Mobile navigation
The bottom bar has three items: Tasks, Wellness, and More.
More opens a sheet containing your Workspace selector plus:
Welcome · All tasks · Projects · Team health (multi-member workspaces) · Settings · Manage workspaces · Sign out
The header tools sheet on mobile is also where the adaptive interface control and Energy check-in live.
For the differences in how My Tasks itself behaves on a phone, see Mobile web and apps.
Common questions
What's the keyboard shortcut for search?
⌘K on macOS, Ctrl+K on Windows and Linux.
Can I search inside task descriptions and comments?
Global search matches tasks, people, and projects by name. For narrowing by field, status, tag, or date, use Filters on My Tasks and save the result as a saved view.
Why can't I see Calendar or Team Health in the sidebar?
Calendar appears when it's enabled for your workspace; Team Health appears when your workspace has more than one active member. In a solo workspace, Team Health is hidden by design.
Where is Settings?
It isn't in the sidebar. Use ⌘K and type "Settings", your avatar, or More → Settings on mobile.
Does search find tasks hidden by Rest mode?
Yes. The capacity cap only limits what the list renders; search covers everything you can access.
