Account, login, and appearance

Update your profile and timezone, manage passwords and Google sign-in, and switch between Light, Hybrid, and Dark.

Everything account-related lives under Settings, reachable via ⌘K → Settings, your avatar, or More → Settings on mobile.

Profile

Settings → Profile holds your First Name, Last Name, Display Name, Phone, Timezone, and profile photo (Change Photo).

Display Name is what teammates see on tasks, comments, and Team Health.

Timezone matters more than it looks. It drives due date boundaries, when "today" starts for Plan My Day and your routines, and when the weekly snapshot is calculated. If dates seem off by a day, check this field first.

Your email address isn't edited here — Profile points you to Login info.

Login info

Settings → Login info is where sign-in is managed: your password, linking or switching your Google account, and which sign-in methods are active. Onward supports Google, Apple, and email with a password.

If you originally signed up with Google and want a password as well, add one here so you're not locked out if you lose access to that Google account.

Appearance

Onward offers three themes: Light, Hybrid, and Dark. The control is in the sidebar footer on desktop (Change theme) and in the mobile navigation, rather than on the Profile page.

Hybrid is worth trying if you find full dark mode hard to read in a bright room but full light mode harsh in the evening.

Appearance is a per-device display preference, like the adaptive interface override. Setting Dark on your laptop doesn't change your phone.

Leaving and deleting

Two different actions, often confused:

  • Leaving a workspace removes you from that workspace only. Your Onward account and personal data continue to exist. This is under Settings → Workspaces.
  • Deleting your account is permanent. It's under Settings → Privacy → Permanently Delete Account.

Before deleting, use Request Data Export under Settings → Privacy — export isn't available afterwards. See Privacy and your data.

Common questions

How do I change my email address?

Through Settings → Login info, not Profile. Profile shows your email but links you there to change it.

I signed up with Google — can I add a password?

Yes. Settings → Login info lets you add a password and manage which sign-in methods are active on your account.

Where is dark mode?

In the sidebar footer on desktop and in mobile navigation, not under Profile. Choose Light, Hybrid, or Dark.

My due dates look like they're on the wrong day.

Check Timezone in Settings → Profile. It determines where day boundaries fall for due dates, daily plans, and routines.

Does deleting my account delete my workspace?

Deleting your account removes your account. If you own a workspace with other members, transfer ownership first — see Workspaces, seats, and billing.

Why don't I see a Subscription tab?

It only appears for users who can manage the subscription. If someone else owns billing for your workspace, the tab is hidden for you.
